A Little Vacation Recap!

Hey Everybody!
I hope you are all doing very well and rested after the weekend!

Sorry I have been a bit absent, planning our trip really took some work!
I am glad to be home and back in touch with all of you!

My husband and I went on a cruise to Mexico last week, all I can say is Wow!!
I had never been on a plane, let alone a cruise!

It exceeded my imagination in ways that I never could have thought of.

I am having trouble getting some of the great sunset pictures that we took but I was able to get the Sea Turtles that we swam with! That is a big win, in my book. lol

We went on 2 separate sea turtles excursions.
You probably noticed that I have a big affinity for turtles. Our tortoises at home are the coolest guys ever and when given the opportunity to swim with their relatives we jumped right in- literally! lol
and BOY was it COLD!!!!! I will have a wetsuit next time!
We forgot the camera when we went into the ocean but that turned out to be for the best. The water was kind of choppy and I was having enough issues learning what in the world I was doing, without trying to add taking pictures! lol

We are already counting the days until we can go back and even take the kids this time. They. Will. Freak! lol

It was quite funny when my 12 year old text me right before we left to say that it was unfair- the baby gets to go on a plane AND a cruise before they do!;(I am about 8 weeks along.. haha)! We all got a good laugh out of that!

Anyways, take a look at the pictures..
The Freedom of the Seas was a Fantastic ship! The crew was amazing and worked very diligently with me to accommodate my lactose intolerance. It would have been a much different trip if they hadn't been able to do that!
These iguana's were all over the place! This guy just looked like the KING and I had to capture him on film. So Neat!!
These were the Big sea Turtles. We swam with much smaller guys. We also thought it was quite funny that they enjoy the same "kibble" for a snack as our tortoises. lol
I just love how clear this guy came out. We didn't get a ton of GREAT pics but these next few are fantastic shots!

The walls in our house just got some awesome new decoration- or will as soon as I can blow these bad boys up!

We had The BEST time! Mind = Blown!
Seeing Mother Nature at work really touched my heart in ways that I cannot describe. I am SO glad that I went "outside my comfort zone" and swam with these beautiful creatures! No, we didn't see a Single shark! =D

I hope you enjoyed the peek at our vacation.
I can't wait to get back to the projects that have taken a backseat while all this was happening!

Have a fantastic week!

The "Other" Big News!

Hey Everyone!
I mentioned in my last post that I have some pretty huge news and it has me really excited!
In my hope to grow my blog and make it a really "happenin" place, I was trying to make connections with people. Everything starts with an introduction, right?!
So I contacted Fabric Depot.

I was very pleasantly surprised when they had a proposition for Me!

They asked if I would be able to come up with a project and do a tutorial on their blog!
I have never done anything like that before..
If you know me, you already know that I jumped on the idea with very little thought at all! ;)
Sometimes the most fun things are those that are so unexpected!

I had a cool idea that I had been wanting to try out.. It had been on my mind for months and I had just been too busy with other projects, to give it a shot.

Have you ever gotten all warm and comfortable under the covers in bed, only to realize that you want to change the channel on the TV? As usual, is the remote control on hubby's side? Unreachable..??
I got tired of it! =D

Thus, my Remote Caddy was born!

I had the whole concept of it laid out in my head pretty easily.
I was able to create it with no big issues popping up, too! That surprised me!
When it came to putting those steps on paper, things got a little tricky.
However, I think it went really well!

I made my thread visible so it would be easier for you to see what I was doing!

If you would like to make your very own Remote Caddy, check out Fabric Depot's blog for my very first Tutorial!

Please feel free to contact me if you have ANY questions or to let me know what you think!

If you make one, will you share it with me!?

I would just love to see them all!

Have a terrific weekend and Good Luck with your Fabric Caddy, friends!

God Bless!!

Some Big News!

Hey everyone!

I don't know how the weather is by you, but Michigan hasn't yet accepted that it is officially

At least the birds know what is up (aside from themselves, haha), they are busy chattering and building nests for the new babies to come. <3
On a side note- years ago we had the awesome blessing of watching a pair of robins build, then fill their nest and attend their babies until they flew away. We even got home just in time to witness that, it was so awesome and incredibly adorable! That was such an awesome experience for myself and it was even cooler for my kids!

I have some great news coming up in a day or 2 and I can't wait to share it with all of you! Keep an eye out for my next post ;)

I also have some other Bigger news to share, below =D

In the mean time, I wanted to share with you the progress on the baby quilt that I started a couple of months ago..
In all honesty, I began this quilt hoping that it would "spread good vibes"..
What gives positive feelings like making a quilt?!

It turns out that it worked!!
We are now expecting a bundle of joy to arrive in December!
As soon as I found out, I grabbed that quilt and started basting the beans out of it! =D
I have never basted a quilt before.. you know what else.. This will be my first ever finished quilt! Yay!

After all of that celebrating, you know what came next, right..?
I got a bit ahead of myself (I know, I can't believe it either..haha) and my bobbin stitches are not quite right. Son of a biscuit!
What is a first time quilt finish without your seam ripper near by, anyway... lol
I am currently ripping out my first quilted line, so I can restart with my bobbin stitch nice and flat. Positive thoughts, positive

At least I have about 8 months to get it right! I just REALLY hope it doesn't take me 8 months.. =\ lol
I'm sure you can guess that the "sew for baby" list has grown to outlandish proportions, as I add and move things to the top, bottom or middle of said list, daily.
As soon as we are back from our trip, I am going to be a sewing fool!

Do you have any great patterns that you loved and would like to share?
I'd  reallylove ideas <3
& pictures if you have any! Who doesn't love pictures! ;)

I hope you all have a fantastic week and get a chance to stop and smell all of the beautiful flowers that are starting to come up!

Take good care my friends and God Bless!

Blog Button-Finally!

Happy Saturday!

I am so happy that spring is finally here!!
Mother Nature doesn't seem to realize this yet but she will soon, I hope! haha

You may remember that I (kind of) recently got my new logo up and running for my blog!? =D   -I'm still totally in love with these tortoises!!

You can see that post here. :)

I had SUCH a difficult time turning it into a "grab box" button, I just gave up for a while. I was recently told that maybe Sarah at 123Quilts and her previous post could help me out!
I don't know what my problem is but even with Sarah's great details, I was STill having trouble with it.
She is great, though and I took her up on her offer to help.
Boy did she Ever!
Thank you so much, Sarah! I couldn't have done it without you- I tried, a lot! lol

After exchanging a few emails back and forth she totally found my issue and fixed it for me - she did it so fast, couldn't believe it!
That was so awesomely sweet of her!
As I'm sure you guessed... I am geeked about it! =D

So! If you have noticed the right side bar, you can see my Brand Spankin New Grab Box! =D Yay!!

If you like my blog, enjoy linky parties or giveaways, please feel free to snag my button for your blog! If you don't mind, let me know if you do!
It would be a real hoot to see my little tortoises on other blogs. =D

I hope you all have a uneventful April Fools' day!!
Good luck with that! ;)

Take good care my friends and God Bless!!

A Fun Small First Swap

Hey Everyone!
I hope you are all having a good week!

I am a bit behind, lately, sorry!
I am preparing to go on my first big vacation.
It turns out that finding all of the things that you have to pack for such an adventure, is taking up a lot of my sewing time!

I was able to start cutting blocks for a small swap I am having with a few awesome quilty friends, so that is something, at least!

Fyi; in a few months, I would like to do a larger block swap and will be putting a call out to anyone else who wants to participate. Don't miss it, if your interested in joining us! =D

I want to thank Crazy Mom Quilts for allowing us to borrow her tutorial on these adorable blocks!
What do you think of my block colors??

It was brought to my attention that my blocks are too color coordinated, lol!
I can't help it, I don't have much of a "scrap stash" yet, so I had to buy FQ's for our swap.. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't "match" mismatchy

In light of that, I am attempting to put some of the oranges with the blues, but that doesn't work so well for the pink. I don't think I can force the pink and orange together, what do you think, is pink and orange too crazy of a combo for scrappy blocks?

I am going to do my best to get a good number of them done before I leave.
I have already gotten almost everything packed. lol.. You could say I am a little excited. lol

Have you started anything, recently?

Why not share it on my Linky!?
We love to check out what everyone is up to and encourage your progress!

Quilters Laundry Day Blog Hop and Giveaway{s}!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
I was truly thrilled when my good friend Jan mentioned that she and her friend Jen, were doing a blog hop this year! - and how cute is that, anyway! Jen and Jan.. lol

Not only that.. Jen created this amazing house block for us all to download on Craftsy- free! It's called "Quilters laundry day"
It is the cutest thing ever and she did an amazing job on the pattern - Just Wow!
Thank you so much Jen, for taking your time to create this awesome block for us to enjoy!
These are the fabrics that I chose. I can't help it, those brights call my name every time and I am too weak to turn
This is the first block (that isn't just strips sewn together) that I have ever made and it definitely took me a little while to figure out what in the world I was doing.. haha
I'll admit, I almost chickened out of finishing it.. Thanks so much for your help Jan- Whew!
But- I did finish it and I'm proud that I was able to persevere! Yay me! =D
The picture below is not quite right, the house is supposed to be on the other side of the quilt but I wanted a quick progress pic ;)
THAT being said...
For some reason, I can measure (and check it twice) before cutting but in the end my block is a little off and it's smaller than it should be.
It's still super cute and now that I have the hang of it, mostly, I think I want to make more of them and practice.
Just maybe I can get the right size...somehow...haha
Here it is! I'm happy with the way it turned out but I am looking forward to practicing on this block and getting more use to this kind of pattern. It is a lot of fun watching it all come together!
Thanks so much for inviting me along on your Hop, Jan and Jen!
I had a great time trying something new and I can't wait to hop around and see  what everyone else has done with their blocks!
OH! Did I forget to mention that at both Jen's {A Dream and A Stitch} and Jan's {Color, Creating and Quilting} blog, if you make a comment, you can enter to win a prize!?

Closed- {Special} March Giveaway!

Happy Wednesday!!

So it's my FAVorite time, again!
Seems like we JUST did this!! =D

This month though, my giveaway is to celebrate my youngest son's 9th birthday! I can't believe my baby is getting so big!

His Birthday is on St. Patty's Day and he happens to be the luckiest kid around! We are part Irish, too, so it is very fitting!
He had major open heart surgery in Janurary, 2012 - This little boy is amazing.. To this day he blows my mind.
This post tells His Story!

This post gives a peek into his days at the hospital and just after getting home, hanging with his bestest buddy- his older brother <3

This picture was from the day after surgery. I was doing whatever I could to make him smile and you know what..farting noises have never failed me and they didn't that day either!  Love that smile
As I am sure you can imagine, I began packing his hospital bag about a month beforehand. Lest I forget something very important, like his favorite bear or blanky! He would have loved it if I could have brought all of his animal friends! I kid you not, upon request, I use to bury this kid at bedtime in all of his animals. That is how he loved to sleep.. The little silly.. =D

Honestly, I wouldn't have any pictures with my kids if I had to like My
The boys were posing in new school clothes and we took a fun group shot. ;)
He's still my baby boy!
As you can see from the recent photos, he is just a regular boy - full of energy and silliness! He also happens to be very proud of his scar and if he likes you, he'll show you ;)
OK! ENOUGH reminiscing, already!
Let's get on to the good stuff!
To celebrate my boy's 9th birthday, I am doing this giveaway a bit differently!

Can I Get a Weekend Re-Do!?

Hey Everyone!
I was hoping that I could get a weekend re-do!
Saturday was going great until I began having some terrible pain in my shoulder and chest area. I try not to grumble about it too much here, so that should tell you the sheer ridiculousness of the pain I was having. Fun, Right!
Which means that my Rheumatoid Arthritis decided to flare up on me. ugh
It is rarely THAT bad, but boy, let me tell you.. I think it was the worst yet. Yay me! hahaha
If it were almost any other part of my body, I could still sew! With it being my shoulder, though, it is impossible to do anything!
Even the slightest movement meant severe pain.
THAT is enough to have even Me pushing my to-do list off a cliff, forget out of my mind- it was No where to be seen. lol
Basically, my favorite time of the week was spent with me in bed, for 3 days..
Yes, I was forced to include Monday in on my miserable- not so fun- weekend.
I am usually all too happy to have a 3 day weekend, I mean, who isn't!?
Except it's usually doing something that I enjoy, even if that's being lazy! lol
I have to say that I have a fantastic hubby, though! He took care of me and waited on me hand and foot (he even volunteered to the grocery store, Holy cow!!). I would have been in big trouble without him! Been there - done that, it is NO fun!
Thankfully, I am already on the up-swing of that!
So, I am hoping that approaching THIS weekend, I will be able to get all of those other things done and get back on track!

I have a BIG March giveaway that I am still prepping for, eek.. That's like, tomorrow, right!?
My fingers are crossed, will you cross yours for me too, please!? ;)
I hope Your weekend was full of good things and fun, at least!!
Have a super week and God Bless!

Have You Heard!?

Hey everybody!
Happy weekend!
I don't know about you but I am ready!
My to-do list has been waiting patiently for just such an occasion- the weekend! haha

First, I want to thank you all for your thoughtful and helpful comments on my previous post! It warms my heart that you are all there for me with encouragement and help, thank you thank you thank you!! xox!!

Now that That piece of wonderfulness is out of the way;
Have you ever heard of Spoonflower??

I have been super intrigued with fabric design and started searching for ways to accomplish it..
You'd never guess that I went into it thinking I would have to figure out HOW to even print it onto the fabric, then thinking it would be this crazy drawn out process that would be a huge pain in the butt..

Then I found Spoonflower and was literally blown out of my chair to see that I could upload my own designs and THEY would print it for me! AND you can sell them right on their site/ or your own!
It's so beyond awesome that I can't even process it!

Check out my first batch of designs!

I still have a bunch of designs that I need to get swatches of before they can be for sale but All of those above can now be purchased from my site!

This one below isn't available just yet but it will be asap! It is the cutest thing EVER!!
My 15 year old niece Madison (creator of the design below!) and I have joined together to create some awesome designs and I think you will love them, too!

I have named her collection 'Madison's Magic' and will do my best to keep her designs there, for ease. ;)

She is super talented as a artist and I just could not resist the idea of working with her, how awesome is that!?
We have long term goals that we are going to push to make happen. This could be her ticket to college, doing something that she LOVES! I'm going to do my very best to help her with that!!!

As soon as these birds are available I am making all sorts of fun things out of it!
THAT is a promise!
 We call it Bickering Birds.
Sorry for the terrible picture, it really isn't too shabby since it is a picture of my computer screen! lol
I hope you will check out my new fabric designs!
